what happens when mom is sick?

1. She misses taking care of her babies all day
2. She feels like she's back to the bedrest days....except not being able to eat or drink is totally not worth it
3. She sanitizes the toilet after each time she hugs it....more cleaning that the toilet has seen in months!
4. Daddy is in charge, but wonderful....already brought the babies to the doorway to wave at me and say hi
5. She is given orders to update the blog!

Seriously, though, i haven't been sick in YEARS. So why now?? Completely inconvenient, unwanted, and miserable. Praying for a 24 hour bug (or less) that only affects me! I hate just laying here and missing out on my babies' day.

what i wish i was doing today...

Life for the triplets has been good lately! They all have 2 teeth a piece....and maybe a top on on the horizon for Avery! And speaking of Avery....she's finally making forward progress! Not completely crawling in crawl fashion yet, but an army crawl mixed with belly flops =) And the boys are just all over the place! We've brought up more barriers...and for now, they are contained to the family room. period.
No more getting into Cooper's food!!
Zach enjoys pulling himself up to a stand on EVERYTHING! He loves looking out the window and watching the cars go by. He also LOVES to play with his ball popper toy. It's the loudest toy we have, and of course he knows how to turn it on all by himself! It's adorable to watch him sprint-crawl to it and start playing (even when he doesn't have any clothes on!)! He' s still the best sippy cup drinker...but not as good at feeding himself as the other 2 are. Cooper knows which baby to stand under during meal time!!

Colby is such a little cheese ball!! We went out to dinner on Thursday, and Colby's favorite thing to do was ScReAm and then laugh at himself when i told him "no", covered his mouth, or gave him a look. Nothing worked.....except to keep stuffing food in his mouth. We are working hard on the sign/word "more", but he's not catching on quite yet!
Cooper also knows when the cheerios get distributed...and Colby thought it was hysterical watching cooper beg for his! Colby also LOVES looking in the mirror. Everytime i get him out of the table after a meal, we look in the mirror and snuggle, and he gives me the sweetest, happiest, heart-melting smile ever!
Avery is a very happy little girl. She is so easily entertained with her toys where she can "put things in". She loves to feed herself and loves sticking her finger in the top of her sippy cup. She's still very much a mama's girl....but look out when she doesn't get her way!

Today more than ever I am thankful that i have such a wonderful husband and daddy. He is amazing. He's been busy taking care of me and the kids and does it with a smile on his face. Although i hate laying in bed while they're out playing, listening to them giggle and squeal in delight gives me all the comfort in the world. Thank you for being such an awesome dad!
This was daddy's way of playing peek-a-boo the other day...
And without an awesome daddy, what babies would have a 4 ft. tall stuffed scooby do??

Where has the time gone???? My babies are 9 months old and so much has changed since my last post! First off....Zach has a tooth!!! Not as fun being the last to get one, but still as exciting as the first! Fun fact...he cut his bottom left first, and the other 2 cut the bottom right first! Secondly...Colby is crawling!!! Yes, now we have 2 mobile babies! And Colby's 2nd tooth is through too!Their favorite place to go is into the kitchen, and make a hard left to be-line to the dog food. Zach watches cooper a little too closely and checked out the doggy door the other day, but didn't get too far......yet. So needless to say, i have VERY little time i can sit down and type. They are on a really good schedule right now, so nap time is 'mommy time', but very rarely do i have a minute to type with never ending laundry, dishes, cleaning etc! And i get even less of that done while they're awake!
Here's our latest schedule (in a perfect world it goes like this every day...too bad we live in reality!):
10pm-Bed
9:00am-Wake up
Bottles, diaper changes and play time
10:30am-Breakfast
11:15am-Get dressed, change diapers
12:00pm-Bottles
12pm-2pm-Nap Time
2-2:30-Diaper changes and playtime
2:45-Lunch
3:30-playtime, story time
5:00-bottles
5-7pm-Nap Time
7:00-diaper changes and Dinner
7:30-9 Play time and bath time
9:30-Diaper changes, put on pj's, bottles....and
10pm-BED!
(and it always goes just like that....HA!)

The really fun part right now is all the new foods they are eating! We got the go-ahead last month to feed them anything we eat. One of their favorites is pancakes! They really like vegetable soup...and mini beef ravioli's are a HUGE hit! They also like to feed themselves, so anything i can cut/break up small enough is very fun for them! (Except Zach isn't as sure as the other two about trusting my cooking enough to enjoy feeding himself yet!) They continue to work on drinking from sippy cups....and continue to make me feel like i'm in a waterpark whenever i turn the cups over to them! And when josh and i try to eat dinner...they beg worse than the dog does!! i guess sharing my food with 3 babies and a dog can be considered my new diet! Oh and then there's Avery....i finally got video of her eating....or lack there of. When she doesn't want a bite this is what happens....

Not only does he crawl and have two teeth...but Colby has a "cheese" face too! (no pun intended :) )

And here's my sweet princess who loves to stay up late for some extra mommy time, the only one who i can put in bed awake and will happily go to sleep, the one who has a laugh that makes you want to tickle her forever, and one of the most precious things on this earth!

I have tons more i could write....but i still have to make formula and get the trash out and try to get some sleep before one of my sweet babies that kept me up all night last night wakes up! (or even better that we all get some much needed sleep!!)

starting the new year off with...

a tooth for Colby!!! (i promise it's in there...bottom right!)
and even more mobility (and ornery-ness) for Zach! Not only is he crawling EvErYwHeRe.....but he's now pulling himself up on his feet when he can!! We have planned that the family room and dining room would be the kids areas so have been moving things and making the rooms safe for babies....but leave it to Zach to find everything we don't want him to get into!! I make sure to give him some extra cuddles...b/c i feel like i'm saying "No, Zach!" all day long! (and he doesn't listen at all ;) ) And i'm sure something good is coming for Avery soon too!

We had an absolutely wonderful Christmas! I can’t even remember how boring Christmas was before the babies! They had so much fun….and even ‘opened’ their presents. They were completely spoiled by everyone and our house is bursting at the seams with all their toys! Being ‘put away’ now means moving the toys out of the middle of the room to the perimeter! We made lots of stops to make sure we got to see and spend a little time with everyone...here was our schedule: starting on Wednesday the 23rd we went to my mom’s house in the evening and ate and exchanged gifts with my family-Mom, Alex, Halley, Grandpa, Josh and the babies. Thursday the 24th we woke up and Santa came! (he must have known how busy we were going to be on Christmas day, so he wanted us to have plenty of time to open and enjoy the presents he left!) He brought the babies puzzles, a fun mirror, a foamy playmat for their playroom, books, new jammies, sippy cups, and movies. Mommy and Daddy got the babies each a big, medium and small toy and some books! I didn’t have enough hands to take pictures, video tape, and help someone unwrap their presents! It was so much fun though….and we TRASHED our family room! Thursday evening, josh had to work, so I took the babies up to my mom’s side of the family for our annual Christmas eve gathering! They had lots of fun visiting with all their extended cousins, and even got asked if they would be in my 2nd cousin Katie’s wedding on their 1st birthday! (I can’t wait to dress them up!!) We came home late Thursday night, then Friday was our big day. Christmas morning we woke up and packed up the van and went to Josh’s parent’s house. We had lunch and exchanged presents there, then went to my dad’s side of the family for dessert and more presents, then we went to Josh’s papaw’s house to meet up with all of his extended family for you guessed it, more food and more presents. On Saturday, we woke up with no power in the house….so after 3 hours of waiting for it to come back…we gave up and packed up the kids and went to return a few things and shop the after Christmas deals=) So much for a relaxing day at home. Then Sunday was our final Christmas gathering at my mom’s house with my uncle and his family….for more food and presents =) Here are a few pics from our Christmas festivities and visits.

Santa Came!!!!!

What a mess!!

Then, the day after Christmas, Zach surprised us….and is crawling!! Everywhere! We are going to be in so much trouble when all 3 of them are crawling! I feel like we have done a good job of cleaning up the family room to prepare for this, but the babies seem to find everything they aren’t supposed to have….even amidst all their new toys!! Zach ventured into the kitchen yesterday…here’s a clip of that…it was hilarious.

We now have the gate in full use at the top of the stairs, and a few more on hand for when the other 2 are as mobile as Zach. We used the play yard to help contain them while Josh and I were trying to clean up after all our Christmases….but they weren’t huge fans.

The babies, my mom and I rang in the new year, with dinner at Friday’s and some playtime! Colby must have known that it wasn’t normal to be alone on new year’s, so he woke up at 12:30 for some snuggling. Other than that, they have been sleeping MUCH better. I felt like a horrible mom, but on Christmas eve night, Colby woke up at 2:30am. I went in, walked him around for 2 minutes, he was back asleep and I was back in bed within 5 minutes of waking up. Not bad, I thought, but then about 5 more minutes later, he was screaming. I knew he was fine, b/c I’d just been up with him, so I let him cry. And he cried for about an hour. But finally fell back asleep. And other than waking up a few times b/c of stuffy noses (they all woke up with colds on the Sunday after Christmas….too much visiting??) they have been almost back to their normal sleeping selves!

Just had to include this one...now that the presents are gone...the tree is much more tempting! This is her "i didn't do anything" look.

We had such an incredible 2009…I’m not sure that 2010 can be better…but we’ll give it a try! As much as I can’t believe my babies are almost 9 months old….and will turn one this year, and will start walking, and talking….i’m so excited to watch them grow and see what the new year will bring for them and our family. Happy New Year everyone!
